People have asked me a lot lately how I'm doing. Writing about this is a little cathartic for me. Maybe smoking some weed (cause Rob really loved that). I always thought when our kids were older it would just be our group hanging out at the campfire singing and laughing. He has been the best Brother-In-Law for the last 20 years. A great husband and father and the best uncle. Our family has never experienced a tragedy like this. The paramedics were able to revive him but unfortunately Rob never woke up and he was removed from life support on May 25th. People tried so hard to rescue him but it must have been at least 10 minutes before they were able to chainsaw the tree and get him out of the cart. Apparently the tree had Rob pinned at the steering column of the cart. Bad bumps and bruises but still running around like a kid should. At first we were super hopeful that Rob would be ok. My nephew was pinned in the cart as well.
Rob ended up getting hit by a tree that fell on their golf cart as they were almost off the course.
The storm came through super fast and they were trying to get off the course.

He's been having problems with his throat so I was like ok, how is he? We didn't know the full details at the time, but Rob had been golfing with my nephew Owen at a golf course in Ottawa. After my younger daughter finished her game my husband came to tell me that my Brother-In-Law Rob was in the hospital. We heard Ottawa, where our home is, was going to get hit much harder. There was a storm that went through but we kind of just got the tail end of it in Kingston. On May 21st I was at a tournament with my kids in Kingston, ON. This month was supposed to be filled with just some fun spring ringette tournaments and nothing too over the top. May has got to have been the shittiest month my family has ever experienced.
